Community leaders

For the leaders who hold our communities together.

Presidents of diaspora, hometown, faith and professional associations are the first people a family calls when life breaks. The Foundation stands behind you, so that no family you serve faces a crisis alone. Everything we offer is free for everyone, with no membership and no fee.

Welcome

A welcome to community leaders

A message from the Together and Stronger family to the presidents and organisers of our communities: why your role matters, how the family supports you, and how to begin. Narrated in English.

What the Foundation offers

Free support for every family in your community.

When a member of your association turns to you, you can turn to us. These programs are open to everyone, in English, Spanish and French.

A death far from home

Same-day guidance on repatriation, local burial or cremation, itemised prices, documents and consular steps, and coordination of the Mutual Aid Compact.

Hardship relief

A financial bridge for a deposit, a document fee or a fare that unblocks a family's situation, with follow-up in the weeks after.

Fair work

Unpaid wages and workplace concerns prepared for referral: records, timelines and claim forms, with an interpreter and a companion.

Health navigation

Help finding low-cost care, enrolling in programs and reading a medical bill, so that care is not postponed.

Housing and food stability

Next steps after an eviction notice or a utility shut-off, and connections to food assistance near your members.

Online safety

Scam checks and a clear plan for the first twenty-four hours after a fraud, for members of every age.

A death far from home

The concern every community leader carries.

When a member dies far from home, the family turns to the association, often in the middle of the night. The Foundation answers the same day, explains every option in the family's language and coordinates the solidarity of the associations until the loved one is home.

How we work with leaders

Four steps to bring the Foundation to your members.

1

Introduce your association

Write to us with the name of your association, the community you serve and the city where you meet.

2

Name a liaison

One person from your community becomes our point of contact, so that every referral reaches a familiar voice.

3

Host a session

We present the Foundation at your meeting, on site or online: know your rights, online safety and what to do after a death far from home.

4

Refer families, early

Send families to us as soon as a problem appears. We follow up until it is solved, and we keep you informed with their consent.

What we ask of community leaders

  • Refer early: problems are easier to solve in the first days.
  • Respect confidentiality: a family's situation is shared only with their consent.
  • Share the Foundation's free guides with your members.
  • Tell us honestly what works and what does not.
Start today
